Kids need fitness for a healthy life too

Running a race, jumping on a trampoline, rolling down a hill. There is so much fun in exercising as a kid. Games that involve lots of activity help kids to make fitness a natural part of their lives. Kids do not have to be involved in organized sports to learn how to have a fit lifestyle.

One of the first things to do in teaching kids fitness training is to turn off the television. This is as important for you as it is for your kids. Use it only when someone is sick and needs a distraction on the couch. If TV–or any screen for that matter–is not an option, anyone can find ways to entertain themselves.

Another effective way in teaching kids fitness training is to model it–whether you are a parent, an uncle, an aunt, a grandparent, or even a concerned friend. Model it by inviting kids to come along as you exercise. Let them participate with you, and show them how much fun they can have being healthy. Also, taking time to actively play with them models good health. Race them kids-fitnessthrough the yard or build an obstacle course or play catch.

Being fit is about everyday lifestyle choices, and kids like to have choices because then they have some control. Giving them choices between 2 healthy activities lets them participate in the decision making process and be active. Kids, also, like to imitate adults, so if they have their own small weights, they can learn safe exercises to build their muscle tone.

When kids are interested in fitness, it will benefit them for their entire life.
